Our local 3d printing company filaprint generously gave the library a 3d printer in 2016. We’d like to thank Jody for the awesome contribution to the library’s technology offerings.
3d printing is an emerging technology that has the potential for incredible growth in the 21st century. We are excited to partner with the local high school to ensure the next generation is properly equipped to leverage this innovation. Come by the library and take a look at the machine. You’ll hear it buzzing away quite often – producing handy creations, and inspiring imaginations of what it might produce next.
We will soon launch our guidelines for 3d printing for the public – based on the best practices of some of our peers. We will only be printing on ‘bio-plastic’ (PLA) which is made from sugars and starches and does not exibit the smells other plastics can. It is also bio-degradable, non-toxic, and recyclable.
Thanks Filaprint!
So happy to have been able to get 3D printing where it belongs! Enjoy!!
